The trumpet of death (Craterellus cornucopioides) is one of the most appreciated wild mushrooms in gastronomy for its intense, deep, and slightly fruity flavor. Dark in color, almost black, and with an elongated funnel shape, it grows in humid forests during autumn, forming abundant groups that make it a true mycological treasure.

Its elegant and persistent aroma adds a powerful umami touch to rice dishes, risottos, pasta, meats, creams, and sauces. Despite its name, it is a completely edible mushroom and highly valued in gourmet cuisine for its ability to enrich any preparation with very little quantity.

In dehydrated form, its flavor is even more concentrated, and it can be stored all year round. Simply rehydrate it for a few minutes to recover its texture, and also use the soaking water as an aromatic base in broths and stews.

To rehydrate, soak in cold water for approximately 45 minutes.
