Psyllium is the name given to the seed of Plantago , a genus of flowering plants commonly known as plantain. Psyllium husk powder is a great source of soluble fiber. It is an excellent natural laxative.
When using it as a food thickener, mix a teaspoon of psyllium with a little water and add it to sauces and desserts; you'll see that it doesn't change the taste of the food.
