Today we bring you an easy, fun, and original recipe. It's a dish that will please both adults and children: Textured Soy Nuggets. This is a perfect side dish to accompany a salad or a light starter, for example, and its main ingredients are soy and flour. Soy is a high-protein ingredient used as a vegetarian alternative to many other animal products, as it surpasses eggs, meat, and milk in protein. That's why it's considered one of the most important ingredients for vegan and vegetarian diets. Soy also reduces the risk of osteoporosis, is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, and is a source of minerals: magnesium, iron, and calcium.
In this recipe we will mix the soy with some other ingredients, such as cumin, garlic and vinegar, which will add a tastier touch.
Ingredients:
- 150g of textured soy
- 2 tablespoons of dried parsley
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 glass of boiling water
- 2 tablespoons of vinegar
- 6 tablespoons of flour
- 2 tablespoons of ground cumin
- Breadcrumbs
RECIPE FOR TEXTURED SOY NUGGETS
Elaboration
1. First of all, put the soybeans in a saucepan and add boiling water until the soybeans are covered. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.
2. Chop the garlic into very small pieces and set aside.
3. Continue draining the soybeans well (very important) and then place them in a bowl to add the rest of the ingredients. Mix in the chopped garlic, parsley, cumin, and vinegar. Mix everything together and add boiling water to thin the mixture slightly.
4. Continue mixing and stirring, and finally add the flour. Continue mixing well and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Once you take it out of the refrigerator, check its texture to see if it's workable (if it seems too thin, add a little more flour).
5. Finally, shape the dough into nuggets and coat them with breadcrumbs. Heat sunflower oil in a saucepan or deep frying pan until very hot before adding the nuggets. Then simply cook the nuggets to your liking, rare or well-done. Enjoy!
